In designing a treatment program for you, Dr. Johnson strives to establish a hierarchy of therapies which provide the most efficacy with the least side effects. First and foremost, it is important to assess your nutritional needs. If a disorder can be easily corrected with a healthy diet, this would be the preferred treatment. Children often respond amazingly well to this approach.

Secondly, exercise as a therapy, can have profoundly positive effects on every aspect of metabolism. Some form of exercise has been effectively used for such conditions as depression, diabetes, obesity, anxiety, heart disease, asthma, arthritis, vision, urinary & fecal incontinence, pregnancy and fibromyalgia.

If a condition is long-standing or if the person has suffered some damage to the body, healthy diet and exercise are in order but the individual often requires more aggressive therapy.  I would first start with vitamins, minerals and correct any hormone which is deficient or in excess.  If this does not correct the problem and the condition is mild, it can often be treated with herbs and botanicals.  For more severe problems or those which do not respond to nonprescription therapy, then we bring in prescription pharmaceuticals.  We strive to temper the therapy to the severity of the problem.
